Oxidation removal in Jacksonville, NC

If you rub your siding and your hand comes away chalky white, that is oxidation — and washing alone will not fix it.

Oxidation is the surface of the material itself breaking down under years of UV exposure. On vinyl and aluminium siding it shows as a dull, chalky film that makes the colour look faded and uneven. It is not growth and it is not dirt sitting on top, which is why a standard house wash leaves it exactly as it was.

Removing it takes a dedicated product and mechanical work to strip the degraded layer back and bring the colour underneath forward. It is slower and more involved than washing, and it is quoted separately for that reason.

It is also worth being straight about the limits. Oxidation removal restores appearance significantly, but severely degraded material may not come all the way back. We will tell you which situation you are in after looking at it rather than promising a result first.

How we assess it

  • A hand test on the surface tells us how far the degradation has gone
  • A test section is treated first so you can see the realistic result
  • We quote from that test rather than from a photograph
  • If the material is too far gone, we will say so — replacement beats a bad outcome

Talk it through first

If you would rather describe the property than fill in a form, call and we will tell you what is realistic before you commit to anything.

Questions

Questions about oxidation removal

How do I know if I have oxidation or just dirt?

Wipe the surface with a dark cloth or your hand. If it comes away with a chalky white residue, that is oxidation. If it comes away green or grey and the surface underneath looks sound, that is organic growth and a house wash will handle it.

Can every oxidised surface be restored?

No, and anyone telling you otherwise has not looked at it. Light to moderate oxidation responds very well. Material that has been degrading for decades may only partially recover. A test section is the honest way to find out, and we do that before quoting.
